Summary 

The article discusses the need for hydropower development in Georgia and its accompanying environmental problems. The interests of the society and the ecological issues of the development of the energy complex are closely interrelated. The public is interested in how and in what ways their energy supply will be provided. Georgia meets only 34.5% of its energy needs. Hydropower is the leading factor in the formation of energy production of its own production. Environmental problems are especially acute when using hydropower resources.
